Learning Strategist

Who are Virtual Learning Strategists?
Learning strategists are the heart of the Virtual Learning Strategy program. To be effective in their roles, learning strategists rely on:
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish supportive relationships with clients
  • Effective communication and instructional techniques
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the diverse learning challenges that clients may face
  • Keen awareness of evidence-based strategies that enable learners to overcome identified challenges
  • Well-developed organizational and problem-solving skills to effectively meet the needs of learners and the program goals
This position is 100% virtual. As such, you must have the ability to work from a home office, which includes reliable high-speed internet services capable of enabling quality video communication and private space.
Your responsibilities would include and are not limited to:
  • Coordinating interventions, accommodations, and services for clients with learning challenges and other educational support needs
  • Coaching support, academic counselling, development of customized learning plans, teaching use of assistive technology supports, teaching study skills and essential skills

VLS Tutor
Tutoring is one of the most frequently used support services in the VLS Program. Working as a tutor is a great way to supplement your income and make a positive difference by helping more people get into the workforce.
Tutors who work with the VLS are certified in the skilled trades or have a background in foundational essential skills (like reading and math) and have an interest in sharing their knowledge with others. Tutors collaborate with the learning strategist to address identified client needs.
The VLS Program is looking for tutors across the country for multiple occupations.
This position is 100% virtual. As such, you must have the ability to use virtual conference software (such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams) and reliable high-speed internet services capable of enabling quality video communication to meet with clients online.
To be one of our tutors, you must:
  • Be trade certified OR have a background in reading or math instruction
  • Reside in Canada
  • Be technologically literate
